I am craving this black knit cape from Balenciaga as seen on Victoria, but in reality, I found a much more affordable version from DKNY that might give me just the right dose of drama and attitude. I imagine wearing this chic day cape around town with skinny jeans, pointy pumps and a bright-colored bag - easy power dressing for a modern woman.
If you are a reader of the WSJ magazine, you will know that the last page before the back cover is dedicated to sharing a few favorite things of a writer, artist or some famous person. It is a beautiful idea to let someone tell you their life’s stories by anchoring on objects they are attached to emotionally. Among the many things I collect, I’ve always loved the idea of gathering a collection of lockets someday. Just imagine holding onto a picture or keepsake as a physical extension of romantic thoughts or blessings — one such locket would definitely be on my list to share, and I think I might have just found it today.
This vintage Coro Pegasus piece circa 1940’s is a four-photo locket (bottom part) and brooch (top part). This means I am allowed to have more than one important person in my life! I am putting three of my favorite paintings in it at the moment — including one of my own — as an inspirational piece.
Two panels spring out when you open the locket, which feels very magical and special. I am not a connoisseur of vintage pieces, but when I come across something that brings me inexplicable joy every time I look at it, it is definitely a keeper.
